Ogun State Begins Work on Dualisation of Ijebu Ode-Epe Road

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the reconstruction of 14 kilometres Ijebu-Ode-Mojoda- Epe road with immediate effect.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya made this known on Friday after the executive council meeting of the State held at the Governor’s office Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

The linking road to Lagos, according to the commissioner will have two and half lanes in each direction, lay-bys and 14 box coverts and bridges.

A timeframe of 12 months has been set for the completion of the road.

Other features of the road will include, refuge and breakdown lanes, drainages and street lights that will make it seamless to connect Lagos.

The reconstruction which is to be done through the public-private partnership will be tolled for motorists when completed while the proceed will be used for maintenance.

He added that the reconstruction is of priority importance to the governor because the socio-economic benefits of the roads to both states cannot be overemphasised.

The commissioner stressed that travel hours will be significantly reduced, while the standard of living of people – living and working – along the corridor will greatly improve.

He, therefore, appealed to the motorists plying the road to be wary of overspending and be mindful of men and equipment on the construction site while the project lasts.
